Want to try something fun and creative at home? Here’s a cozy little project for you – make your own scented candle that looks like a delicious strawberry dessert or a fresh summer cocktail!
It’s easier than you think – and everything you need can be found in our shop, including ready-made soy wax strawberries and sweet raspberry fragrance oil. 🍓
Here’s a simple step-by-step guide:
What you need for this project:
🕯️ Soy wax
🕯️ Wick
🕯️ Stickers for wicks
🕯️ Fragrance oil
🕯️ Pink dye
🕯️ Small wax raspberries and strawberries
1. Choose the right glass
Start by choosing a glass for your candle – a cocktail glass or dessert cup works beautifully. Clean it thoroughly inside to remove any dust or grease.
Tip: You can absolutely use a wine or cocktail glass – it looks so pretty! Just remember that thin glass is not always heat-resistant. To keep the flame gentle and safe, avoid using a wick that’s too large – otherwise the candle may burn too hot and reach the glass edge, increasing the risk of the glass cracking. Choose a slightly smaller wick and let your candle burn slower and safer.
2. Choose the right wick
Measure the diameter of your glass to choose the correct wick size.
If the wick is too small, the candle won’t burn properly – and if it’s too large, the flame may become too high.
Attach the wick to the center bottom of the glass using a wick sticker or double-sided tape. If you don’t secure the wick, it can float when you pour the wax or shift – causing the candle to burn unevenly.
Tip: Not sure which wick size to choose? Just email us at limonecandles@gmail.com – we’re always happy to help you select the perfect wick for your project! 😊
3. Melt the colored wax
Melt soy wax in a metal container over a water bath. If you don’t have a metal container, you can also use an old glass jar.
Add a small amount of pink dye – this will be your “strawberry layer”.
Tip: Always use Container Soy Wax when making candles in glass. This type of wax is designed specifically for containers – it sticks well to the sides of the glass and gives a smooth, even surface. Pillar Soy Wax, on the other hand, is made for freestanding candles (like figures or pillar candles) and will easily pull away from the glass.

4. Pour the first layer
Once the wax has fully melted and the color is even, pour the first layer into the glass. Let it cool and harden completely before continuing. (This usually takes 30–60 minutes depending on thickness).
5. Melt and pour the second layer
Melt more soy wax – this time without any dye – and gently pour it over the pink layer. This will be the “cream topping” of your dessert candle.
Let the candle harden completely again.
6. Decorate the top 🍓
Now the fun part! Decorate the top with small soy wax strawberries or anything else you like. However, we don’t recommend using dried flowers in this type of candle – they may catch fire while burning, and with thin glasses like cocktail glasses this could become unsafe.
